A common topic of conversation at Jackson Strength is volleyball shoulder exercises. Â Fortunately, I recently had the opportunity to travel to New Jersey to learn more of these exercises under two amazing strength coaches;Joe DeFranco and James “Smitty” Smith. The amount of knowledge these guys have is impressive and their certification is top notch. We went over a ton of stuff, but I wanted to share a quick video by Smitty doing a 3-minute shoulder warm-up. All of our athletes do at least two or three of the exercises in the video with our baseball and volleyball players doing quite a bit more. At Jackson Strength, we have found that these quick volleyball shoulder exercises really activate the muscles that act upon the shoulder and increase strength during the workout. Over the years we have nearly perfected our knee health protocols, and by simply adding in these activation exercises we have done the same with shoulder health.
