There is a lot of confusion surrounding fruit.
Some say you can live on fruit alone, while others say it can cause weight gain and other health related issues if they are eaten too much.
As usual with nutrition, there are no black and white answers and the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
At Jackson Strength Academy, we recommend that people pretty much eat berries to their hearts content while simultaneously scaling way back on tropical fruits and here's why:
Berries have the best sugar to nutrient profile of any fruit on earth!!!
What that means is that with berries, you get the most vitamins, minerals, polyphenols and antioxidants per gram of sugar than other group of fruits.
Tropical fruits are just the opposite. While bananas, pineapples and mangos certainly have their fair share of nutrients, they are not quite as robust in this category and they contain wayyyyyy more sugar.
Berries are also amazing at stifling a sweet tooth. In fact, the other night I was really craving some ice cream.
Instead, I just started smashing blueberries by the handful and within seconds my craving had disappeared.
So, give this switch out a try and let me know how it worked for you in the comments below!
