A couple months ago, I did a 5-Day Fast Mimmicking Diet designed by Dr. Valter Longo, a worldwide expert in anti-aging and longevity.
Basically, I received a kit in the mail that had all my meals in perfect proportions to actually trick my body into thinking it's fasting.
Each day had very little calories and I went to bed hungry every night.
The very first night, I sat there lying in bed thinking how hungry I was and how there was no way I would fall asleep, much less get a decent night of sleep.
Then something crazy happened.
Not only did I fall asleep very easily, I also woke up refreshed and ready to go due to the fact that I didn't wake up one single time!
Fortunately for me, this continued over the next four days and I realized that going to bed a little hungry actually helps me sleep better.
I don't know why, and honestly, I don't care either. If I can hack my sleep without sleep supplements or medications, I'm all for it.
Most of us tend to have this belief that going to bed full will help us sleep through the night, which for me has turned out to be way off base.
I sleep much better when my last meal is around 5pm and I go to bed a little hungry. Not starving but a little hungry.
So, outside of incorporating life balance by going to friend's homes for dinner or occasional ice cream with my family, I try to eat my last bite by 5pm.
Not only is my energy better the next day but I also reap the anti-aging benefits of incorporating a 12-hour fast into my routine as I don't consume anything outside of water until my morning whey protein shake at around 5:30 AM.
Like most things that are good for you, this might be a little uncomfortable at first but give it a week and see how much better you feel!!
